Reflexes of the heart of Europe

Brussels, the city where I’m based. It’s a wonderful city. Bruxelles, Ma Belle, that’s how the francophone inhabitants call it. But, above all, Brussels is a paradise for street photographers, and home of the Brussels Street Photography Festival. Cosmopolitanism is perhaps the trademark of the city. On the city walls everything is written in French and Dutch (or Flemish, as the locals prefer to call it). But you could live here and just speak English, because in this amazing city, everybody makes an effort to communicate and English often emerges as the common language, even among Dutch-speaking and French-speaking Belgiums.

The photo was shot coming from Schuman round about, and entering Rue de La Loi (Law Street) house of many Belgium and European political and governmental institutions. The neighbourhood is known as the Quartier européen (European Quarter), and not far to the left there’s the European Parliament.
