Bamboo Spring Ladle

In Japan, near the springs at the shrine’s entrance, you can find ladles like the one in the picture. They’re used to collect water from the spring or the tank bellow and pour over your hands as a ritual of cleasing and purification before entering the sacred área of the shrine.

All the setup is, all at once, magnificent exquisite, aesthetical, simple and unpretentious. A artful Japanese conception of beauty.
